Whair do they speak Tagolog. I have never heard of that language. Is it a kind of Spanish?
they speak Tagalog in the Philippines. yes, it's sort of like spanish, but not exactly
well, Filipino is a language that has some spanish word. It is really good to know. But still, some of our countrymen didn't know it. It is very sad that some of them are ashaim of our language.
there are also two other dialects of the Filipino Language. Ilicano, and Visayan.
Actually Raymond, there's more than two dialects. Tagalog is the national language and yes, there is a mix of Spanish in ti because the Spaniards ones colonized the Philippines, we got some of their cultural background. But pretty much, Tagalog is a very unique language, and i'm very proud to this day because i still know how to speak and write it by heart. If you want to know other complicated phrases or words in Tagalog, feel free to write it here, and i'll respond to you. Just be sure that what you wanted to know is not in the list above. Okay, i hope it helps. Glad to know that some of you want to learn our language.
I'd love to learn ... um ... how is it spelled? lol JAWS is most likely mispronouncing every phraise that has been written thus far, so I'd like to hear it from a native speaker. Are there any sites that have audio examples of the words for thank you and other basic conversation-starters?
yes, there isn't just 2
You may be confused about languages names. First of all, what is Filipino (Pilipino) and how is it different from Tagalog.
Filipino = Tagalog + Local dialect words + Borrowed Foreign Words
Filipino is the combination of Tagalog (the original dialect from which most words of Filipino are based), words from local dialects (The Philippines has
a LOT of dialects like
Bisaya
(Visaya), Ilokano, and Kapampangan), and some borrowed foreign words adapted into this dynamic language. The three centuries of Spanish rule in the Philippines
left a strong imprint on the vocabulary. Mesa (table), tenedor (fork), papel (paper), and asero (steel) are only a few of hundreds of Spanish words in
Tagalog.
Cebuano
ebuano, also known as Sugboanon, is an Austronesian language spoken in the Philippines by about 20,000,000 people (according to Ethnologue). It is a subgroup
or member of Bisaya, Visayan and Binisayâ. The name came from the Philippine island of Cebu, with the Spanish suffix -ano meaning native, of a place, added
at the end. Spoken in Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Visayas and parts of Mindanao.
Bikolano
The Bikol languages are a group of Central Philippine languages spoken in the Bicol Region of the Philippines. It is composed of three main languages: Northern
Bikol, Southern Bikol, and Northern Catanduanes Bikol. The Bisakol varieties, while spoken in Bicol, are not Bikol languages, but are instead Visayan languages
spoken in Bikol. Bikol Languages are classified as Austronesian and is spoken by about 3,519,236 people (all Bikol languages).
Binisaya
Cebu, Bohol and many parts of Mindanao
Cuyunin
Parts of Palawan, southwest of Panay, Busuanga Island, Agutaya, and Cuyo
Hiligaynon
Iloilo provinces and in Negros Occidental
Iloko
Ilocos and in other adjoining provinces.
Kapampangan
Pampanga.
Pangalatok
Pangasinan
Tagalog
Manila and in Southern Tagalog provinces.
and Waray
Samar and parts of Leyte.
Magandang Hapon Raymond, Kumusta Na? Mabuti Naman
